Hike To The Mighty Todorka Peak: 3 Different Routes To Get There
Pirin National Park has many amazing mountain peaks, but there is one that probably everyone in Bansko knows: the Todorka Peak. It’s the peak that you can see from pretty much every corner in Bansko. And although Vihren is the highest, Todorka is the most recognizable: standing all by itself, looking dramatic with steep drops on both sides. In this article I will share everything you need to know to hike to the Todorka Peak. Since there are multiple trails to get there (and I have done them all) you can choose which one suits you best. Last update & prices in this article are from February 2026. Also read:…

If there is only 1 hike that you can do in Bulgaria (even though I recommend to spend at least a week to explore different hikes in Bulgaria!), let it be the hike to Seven Rila Lakes. This hike connects 7 glacial lakes in Rila National Park, each with unique shapes. The scenery is simply breathtaking and one of the must visits if you’re a nature lover. Besides that the hike is also fairly easy and suitable for beginner hikers as well. Hike The Donchovi Karauli Ridge in Pirin (near Bansko)
One of the more difficult and remote hikes in Pirin is the hike on the Donchovi Karauli ridge. Hike To Sinanitsa Peak: Everything You Need To Know
I have hiked A LOT in Pirin National Park, and still one of my absolute favourites is the hike to Sinanitsa. It’s a full day hike with a diverse trail, a mountain hut at a picturesque location next to a lake and the Sinanitsa ridge. The Sinanitsa Peak looks so impressive and majestic from the hut side! On top of that you have nature pretty much all to yourself during this hike, since it’s one of the furthest peaks from the Vihren Hut. I have done this hike in August 2023 and July 2024. In this article you will find everything you need to know to also enjoy this beautiful…
Tzarna Mogila: Hike The Abandoned Slope Of Bansko (NR 14)
If you’re an adventurous hiker in Bansko, I can recommend the hike to Tzarna Mogila. This peak is behind the abandoned ski lift. Many know slope 14 on the ski map of Bansko as the abandoned slope. Due to avalanches it’s risky to go there for skiing and snowboarding, but it’s a great place to go for a hike after the winter. You probably have the whole place to yourself! I did this hike in June 2024 with a group of friends and my dog and really enjoyed it. Unlike many hikes in Pirin National Park that are well marked, this hike won’t be. So you have to be comfortable…

Hike To The Koncheto Ridge: Everything You Need To Know
I have hiked a lot in Pirin National Park, and one of the most thrilling hikes is the Koncheto Ridge. Even if you are not a hiker, if you are in Bansko you must have heard people talking about it. This knife-edge trail is a true test for adventurous hikers, offering breathtaking views and an adrenaline rush like no other. The Koncheto ridge connects some of the highest peaks in the Pirin Mountains; Kutelo (2908m) and Banski Suhodol (2884m). The ridge is considered one of the most dangerous hikes in Bulgaria. Not sure if I agree with it, but it is definitely not a hike for people with a fear of…

I’m from a country where brunch and coffee places are very popular (aka The Netherlands). If you meet with your friends to catch up, nobody wants the mess in their house, right? So coffee and brunch places are THE place to meet, especially with multiple people. When I arrived in Bansko in 2021 it seemed there was not anything for coffee lovers: most Bulgarians hang out around the outdoor coffee vending machines. But the last few years I feel the coffee culture has found its way to Bansko, because these days we have a bunch of nice places for good coffee in Bansko! Last update: info & prices in this…

What To Do In Bansko In Summer? 40 Fun Tips!
I absolutely love Bansko in summer. I am biased (I live in Bansko since 2021), but it’s one of the best places in Europe to spend the summer. The weather is lovely: not too hot, since Bansko is about 1000 meters above sea level (love the mountain breeze!) and sunny enough to get a tan. A lot of places in Europe get overcrowded in summer, but Bansko in the summer is vibrant, yet relaxed. There are lots of activities and events, but you can also easily withdraw in the Pirin mountains to enjoy some quietness in nature. In this article I share 40(!) tips for things to do in Bansko…
