40 Things To Do In Bansko In Summer: Local Expat Tips [2026 Guide]
I absolutely love Bansko in summer. I am biased (I live in Bansko since 2021), but it’s one of the best places in Europe to spend the summer. The weather is lovely: not too hot, since Bansko is about 1000 meters above sea level (love the mountain breeze!) and sunny enough to get a tan. A lot of places in Europe get overcrowded in summer, but Bansko in the summer is vibrant, yet relaxed. There are lots of activities and events, but you can also easily withdraw in the Pirin mountains to enjoy some quietness in nature. In this article I share 40(!) tips for things to do in Bansko…

14 Nice Places For Coffee In Bansko
I’m from a country where brunch and coffee places are very popular (aka The Netherlands). If you meet with your friends to catch up, nobody wants the mess in their house, right? So coffee and brunch places are THE place to meet, especially with multiple people. When I arrived in Bansko in 2021 it seemed there was not much for coffee lovers: most Bulgarians hang out around the outdoor coffee vending machines. But the last few years I feel the coffee culture has found its way to Bansko, because these days we have a bunch of nice places for good coffee in Bansko! Last update: info & prices in this…
Hike To Sinanitsa Peak: Everything You Need To Know
I have hiked A LOT in Pirin National Park, and still one of my absolute favourites is the hike to Sinanitsa. It’s a full day hike with a diverse trail, a mountain hut at a picturesque location next to a lake and the Sinanitsa ridge. The Sinanitsa Peak looks so impressive and majestic from the hut side! On top of that you have nature pretty much all to yourself during this hike, since it’s one of the furthest peaks from the Vihren Hut. I have done this hike in August 2023 and July 2024. In this article you will find everything you need to know to also enjoy this beautiful…
Hike To The Koncheto Ridge: Everything You Need To Know
I have hiked a lot in Pirin National Park, and one of the most thrilling hikes is the Koncheto Ridge. Even if you are not a hiker, if you are in Bansko you must have heard people talking about it. This knife-edge trail is a true test for adventurous hikers, offering breathtaking views and an adrenaline rush like no other. The Koncheto ridge connects some of the highest peaks in the Pirin Mountains; Kutelo (2908m) and Banski Suhodol (2884m). The ridge is considered one of the most dangerous hikes in Bulgaria. I have done this hike over the Koncheto ridge in September 2025. Not sure if I agree with the idea…

Kukeri in Eleshnitsa: Everything You Need To Know To Visit This Ritual
One thing that I love about Bulgaria is how much they are still tied to their traditions and ancient rituals. One of the most interesting things that you can see and experience in Bulgaria is the kukeri. This is an old ritual where villagers dress up as scary beings to scare away the evil spirits. They do this by dancing through the streets of the village while making loud music. You can see the kukeri in different places in Bulgaria, but one of the best places to see it as a foreigner is Eleshnitsa. In this article I will share everything you need to know to experience this ancient ritual:…
